UH Professors

c++

so my C++ professor is this italian guy. i'm pretty sure he knows his stuff, but he's not too good at teaching it. i mean he lectures about c++, then we maybe see an example the last 15 minutes of class. 1.5 hrs of lecture then maybe an example at the end? com eon guy we're in a computer lab. why don't we use the computers? i'm not gonna lie. programming is pretty sucky when it's 9am. it's sucky when your teacher has to go to italy for 2 months, and has some other professor try to teach you things from your professor's slides. programming is cool when you figure it out. not cool when you spend lots of time and don't figure it out.

web design

we got this old man. i think he has parkinson's disease, cause he shakes like micheal j fox. he's super nice, but he doesn't teach us. we learn step by step from a book. if you have this book you can learn dreamweaver.

the teacher is pointless to have. he's also very pointless when everyone comes back from spring break and he says we have a midterm. 120 MC midterm that doesn't really ask us how to use dreamweaver. wouldn't a hands on test to create a webpage or something have been a better idea? couldn't a warning the week before spring break been nice? nope take this midterm. the average was a C.

visual communication

she thinks she's sooo cool. she was a hair model for tony and guy. is it toni? she has so many degrees. blah blah. we do stuff in photoshop and word. most people don't know how to use photoshop so she lets them make their lab assignments in word. in this class we learn the basic principles of design. you know rule of thirds. white space. alignments. the color wheel. fonts.

anyway my gripe with this class was our research paper. we wrote about whatever topic that dealt with digital media. some people wrote about photography. others about how the internet changed the media. blah blah. what we wrote about doesn't matter apparently, because she went on a grammar nazi rampage. 3 errors was a letter grade deduction. bam 10 errors you get a D. she just stopped reading your paper and gave you a D.

basically the content you wrote meant nothing to her. "i only care about commas and run-on sentences" "my hair is better than yours" "i'm a polish grammar nazi. how ironic"

technical communication

this is an internet class. it's suppose to help you write better when you get in the real world. we write fake memos to grandma's about how to use the internet. we wrote some "how to" on some food recipe we didn't care about. i imagine the people in my class doing everything the last minute like myself. so instead of being prepared and thinking about our writing. we procrastinate and turn in rubbish weekly.

the one thing i do enjoy about tech comm is discussions. the prof posts some article about something he finds interesting. then each person can write about if they agree/disagree with the author, or with another students post.

the main reason i like this discussion is cause i make amusing title posts. There was an article i talked about earlier about google making us stupid. for my title i wrote "I R Brite". most people write "Discussion #X" for their titles. i hope my teacher enjoys reading my titles.

Info Management

this class should be very interesting to me. i'm a computer information systems major, so i should love all this nerdy stuff. "oh man this backbone network connects my LAN to your MAN all in a WAN? that's gnarly bro" "oh snap this tcp/ip connection is off the chain" i feel like knowing this stuff is kinda cool on your own, but when you gotta know it cause you're forced to it loses it's luster for me.

perk of info management. we took the midterm last week. now we don't have class for the rest of the semester. just a group project due sometime before the semester ends.

these are my classes. i hate school.
