Sports Talk

i wish i could be a sports talk radio host. colin cowherd and mike & mike have super awesome jobs. all they do is talk about sports and do random awesome things, just because they know sports people.

sports news:

the nfl draft is tomorrow. the texans pick #20. if someone super awesome is still there the texans will take em. if not they'll go ryan matthews or the best cb left on the board.

big ben is gonna get suspended 6 games. basically big ben is a super creeper. he macks on drunk girls and tries to take advantage of em. "ALLEGEDLY" read the report on deadspin.com. he walked into the bathroom where the drunk girl was with his meat out.

the astros are really bad. our best hope is to trade roy o, or the big puma for lots of prospects. or maybe mclane will sell the astros to some russian gajillionaire like the nets did.

tiger and elin are dunzo. she took the kids to sweden. he's out with his friends in orlando partying it up.'

the nba playoffs are in full swing. the thunder can win these games. kevin durant needs to turn it over less. the bulls are done. kg elbowed that sucka in the head. youtube it if you haven't seen it. it was like BOOM

Burgers

this is my burger ranking of places i've been to:

1. Tornado Burger (#1 spicy) best burger i've ever had. fries are super good too. in the thin soggy kinda way.

2. In-and-Out Burger. (Cheeseburger) animal fries are off the chain. the burger is very good. believe the hype. very good very delicious and fresh. everyone remembers their first in-and-out experience. San Fran band trip. Joe Nguyen got outstanding solo for his euphonium solo in concert band.

3. Smash Burger (Create-your-own Smashburger) Multigrain wheat bun, sharp cheddar, LTOP, sauteed mushrooms. nice and juicy. fries are good.

4. Whataburger (#5 add jalepenos) You're thinking, really? i say yes my friend. whataburger is very consistent and very delicious. those patties with the cheese and bacon is simply magnificent. fries are also thin and delicious. what makes whataburger so awesome you say? it's the ketchup. best ketchup hands down you'll ever put on your food. don't know what i'm talking about? take ketchup for granted? go to your local whataburger and taste the difference. when the world goes into a global apocalypse whataburger ketchup will be the currency other items are measured against.

"how much for that blanket?"
"10 ketchups"
"i got heinz"
"don't insult me"
"del monte?"
"get outta here you're wasting my time"

5. Fuddrucker's (1/2lb the works) good bun. good burger. the bun is just crispy enough to give you some flakes, yet tender to bite through and taste the craftmanship of it all.

6. Lankford's (Langford's) i forgot what it was called, but it's this little hole in the wall with big servings and great service. i got a South of the Border Burger. That my friends means there is guacamole in it. Guacamole is said to enhance anything it touches. I think God said that somewhere. (forgive my blasphemy) But yeah the burger was big and juicy and delicious. i use these words a lot, because that's basically what people want to know. we don't want dry burgers. we barely eat. a maximum of like maybe 6 times a day if you eat small portions. ( 3 meals a day is bad btw. you should eat small meals throughout the day to keep energized) The bun if i recall was a little sweet and that made everything all the more enjoyable. fries, rings, and fried jalepeno strips were good. nothing out of the ordinary, but good nonetheless.

7. 5 Guys Burgers and Fries.(bacon cheeseburger) I don't see what the fuss is about. "oh man 5 guys rocks" "blah blah it's so fresh and delicious" i agree it was fresh. delicious? nay my friend. i went to 5 guys twice and was sorely disappointed. the burger is so bland. it's like "hey i'm just ground beef made into a patty. enjoy" no i cannot enjoy you're blandness. does your burger suck because you offer free toppings? is that how you recoop your loses? by providing trash burgers that have no flavor? are the free peanuts taking away from the chance of making a delicious juicy burger? yes, to all of the above. Enough of my burger bashing. their cajun fries are off the chain. if someone wanted to go to 5 guys. i'd go and just get these. freakin amazing.

i've obviously been to more, but these are ones that are of note. from here on out. if i eat a burger at a noteworthy place i'll let you know my review.

Oops My Bad!

i have a little confession to make.

i really haven't been trying this diet weight loss challenge.

i blame my new job. it's by all these food places i want to try. these new places coupled with the fact that leaving the office for an hour is awesome, because being there for a super long time sucks. These reasons have lead me to waver in my self-control.

Some of you may be reading this and saying you didn't tell me that. you said it was going well. (Kathleen) Yeah i lied. For the most part i do eat really well. I have a banana in the morning eat my little salad i make, and maybe eat another salad whenever i get hungry again. But man when i cheat. I cheat hard. The first two weeks i did ok. i Think i got down to 161. This week was just sucky.

Examples:

April 14th. i got whataburger after class. now that i don't have night class i get home super early. i didn't make a lunch so i decided to get whataburger. my justification. i didn't eat the rest of the day.

April 15th. i had super bad allergies. so i asked my boss if i could go to HEB to get some allergy meds. while getting allergy meds i saw donuts. i bring 8 back to the office, because there were only 4 of us there. i ate 2 delicious donuts. one glazed and one chocolate iced. also my mother had cooked spaghetti and i had that for lunch. but eating pasta is bad for this diet thing.

April 16th. So when i went to that HEB on buffalo spdwy i saw a smash burger. instantaneously i wanted to eat there. i feel like i am a burgerhead, and would like to try all the burgers that people say are good to find out for myself. so i went to smash burger. i got a multigrain bun as opposed to this egg bun they have. sharp cheddar, an LTOP, in the restaurant biz that is lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and some sauteed mushrooms. the sauteed mushrooms i didn't know i got til the mexican guy gave me the check. an extra .99. i didn't understand his stupid mumbling. i was like yeah sure cause i didn't know what he was saying. if you're gonna be takin orders shouldn't you be all perky and loud? not mumbling and boomhauer-like. the fries are some special rosemary and olive oil blah blah to make them all special. they were ok.
the meal was just under $8. sans drink. i got a water. the burger was mad juicy. toppings were fresh. good large burger. i got the 1/3lb, it looked much bigger. there is a 1/2lb option obviously for a little more.

April 17th. My parents went out to eat at Berryhill on friday. They opened one up in Katy not to far from our house. I was suppose to go, but i got all sleepy. I literally slept from ~7pm to about ~9am the next day. Kathleen called at like 1230 to ask if i was alive, but i promptly went back to sleep after that conversation. anyway, i ask my mother to get me beef enchiladas. so now it's saturday and i eat these suckers for breakfast. it was ok. then we go to church and come back home. i eat a banana before i go to jessica's. i start drinking super early and sleep super early.

April 18th. i wait for the house to wake up so we can go eat somewhere. probably pho, maybe something else. pho is delicious DAD food. (day after drinking) there is also DADS which everyone must do (day after drinking shit). it'll be good where ever we go.

so yeah. diet starts monday. i have half a month to do it. it's totally possible.

UH Professors

c++

so my C++ professor is this italian guy. i'm pretty sure he knows his stuff, but he's not too good at teaching it. i mean he lectures about c++, then we maybe see an example the last 15 minutes of class. 1.5 hrs of lecture then maybe an example at the end? com eon guy we're in a computer lab. why don't we use the computers? i'm not gonna lie. programming is pretty sucky when it's 9am. it's sucky when your teacher has to go to italy for 2 months, and has some other professor try to teach you things from your professor's slides. programming is cool when you figure it out. not cool when you spend lots of time and don't figure it out.

web design

we got this old man. i think he has parkinson's disease, cause he shakes like micheal j fox. he's super nice, but he doesn't teach us. we learn step by step from a book. if you have this book you can learn dreamweaver.

the teacher is pointless to have. he's also very pointless when everyone comes back from spring break and he says we have a midterm. 120 MC midterm that doesn't really ask us how to use dreamweaver. wouldn't a hands on test to create a webpage or something have been a better idea? couldn't a warning the week before spring break been nice? nope take this midterm. the average was a C.

visual communication

she thinks she's sooo cool. she was a hair model for tony and guy. is it toni? she has so many degrees. blah blah. we do stuff in photoshop and word. most people don't know how to use photoshop so she lets them make their lab assignments in word. in this class we learn the basic principles of design. you know rule of thirds. white space. alignments. the color wheel. fonts.

anyway my gripe with this class was our research paper. we wrote about whatever topic that dealt with digital media. some people wrote about photography. others about how the internet changed the media. blah blah. what we wrote about doesn't matter apparently, because she went on a grammar nazi rampage. 3 errors was a letter grade deduction. bam 10 errors you get a D. she just stopped reading your paper and gave you a D.

basically the content you wrote meant nothing to her. "i only care about commas and run-on sentences" "my hair is better than yours" "i'm a polish grammar nazi. how ironic"

technical communication

this is an internet class. it's suppose to help you write better when you get in the real world. we write fake memos to grandma's about how to use the internet. we wrote some "how to" on some food recipe we didn't care about. i imagine the people in my class doing everything the last minute like myself. so instead of being prepared and thinking about our writing. we procrastinate and turn in rubbish weekly.

the one thing i do enjoy about tech comm is discussions. the prof posts some article about something he finds interesting. then each person can write about if they agree/disagree with the author, or with another students post.

the main reason i like this discussion is cause i make amusing title posts. There was an article i talked about earlier about google making us stupid. for my title i wrote "I R Brite". most people write "Discussion #X" for their titles. i hope my teacher enjoys reading my titles.

Info Management

this class should be very interesting to me. i'm a computer information systems major, so i should love all this nerdy stuff. "oh man this backbone network connects my LAN to your MAN all in a WAN? that's gnarly bro" "oh snap this tcp/ip connection is off the chain" i feel like knowing this stuff is kinda cool on your own, but when you gotta know it cause you're forced to it loses it's luster for me.

perk of info management. we took the midterm last week. now we don't have class for the rest of the semester. just a group project due sometime before the semester ends.

these are my classes. i hate school.

Places to eat in Houston

kathleen and i have been looking at places to eat in h-town. mainly for brunch, but dinner and lunch are not out of the question.

here's the list and what i know about the places:

palazzo's

it's like this italian place really close to kathleen's. it has a brunch menu, not a brunch buffet, but the reviews are off the chain. reasonable prices like ~$15 give or take a few bucks.

things i want to try:

Spinach and Prosciutto Frittata Italian omelet with spinach, prosciutto, sundried
tomatoes, goat cheese and mushrooms served with skillet potatoes

kathleen:
Crab Cakes and Eggs in remoulade sauce with 2 poached eggs & field greens

shade

it's some contemporary swanky place in the heights. they serve L&D on everyday, along with brunch on the weekends.
things i want to try:

CHOCOLATE PROFITEROLES
Chocolate Brownie Ice Cream, Toasted Hazelnuts
and Chocolate Sauce

GRILLED FETA STUFFED GROUND LAMB
with Cilantro Mint Pesto, over a Salad of Baby Spinach, Grilled Fennel and Asparagus, Roasted Red Peppers, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Hearts of Palm with Orange Chipotle Vinaigrette

Tiny Boxwood's Cafe

This little cafe is apparently inside an architecture firm. they serve BLD tues-sat, and brunch on sun.

things i want to try:

GRILLED CHEESE & PESTO SANDWICH
slices of aged gouda with a light spread of fresh
basil pesto, grilled between crisp pagnotta bread •
served with roasted tomato dipping sauce

TINY’S BUFFALO BURGER
freshly ground, lean buffalo steak roams
in daily from Pete’s Fine Meats • cooked medium,
with blue cheese crumbles, pesto aioli, pickles,
lettuce, tomato on a whole wheat bun

I'll update with more places, and other things i maybe could eat. blue cheese is a bit much for me sometimes, so i'll probably tell em to go easy on it. it's way too powerful.

if you know any cool places to eat in htown. let us know.

And I'm Back!

Sorry about the hiatus. It was a jam packed weekend. I hope you all had a great Easter.

School, family, fun and work is hard to juggle. When you have cousins in town you barely see some things get left by the wayside.

For me it was gaming. I'm glad i quit WoW. Not only did it make me want to stay home all the time so i could raid, I had to spend countless hours to be the best. Don't get me wrong it's really fun. Especially when you have friends that play too.

My friends are pretty awesome. As are my cousins. So is ventrilo. if you don't know what vent is then you are a big noob. It's basically a way to talk to your friends all the time. If you don't know my friends we basically talk like the guys in Superbad if not worse.

I don't think my ragtag group of friends would still be together without it. No other program can I connect to and instantly talk to 10 of my friends. yeah there are these gay video conference things like talkbox, but that's gay. i just wanna talk to em about games and their lives. not look at them.

Anyway, i've been away from my computer for quite awhile. I guess since i'm on it so much at work, i feel no urge to be on it at home unless it's to be productive. Nevertheless, I got back on recently and was greeted warmly by my vent.

"well look who it is"
"where you been faggot"
"i bet he's soooo bad now"
"i'm gonna ban you"

good times

Official Weigh In

Ladies and Gentlemen this is the Official Weigh In of the very much anticipated brother sister battle of the century. Nikko Vs Dete. The weight loss challenge.

In the blue corner wearing the philippines flag shorts, we have, the pride of gamers and fanboys everywhere, Nikko "EZ-MODE" Paguio, weighing in at a hefty 164. (Yesterday was Steak Night, sue me)

Walking to the red corner with no shoes and wearing an american apparel unitard, the pride of Austin, of underpaid social workers, and girls with dis-proportioned bodies, Rachel "Luna Lovegood" Paguio, weighing in at a respectable 122. (yes that's the weird girl from the harry potter movies)

Here's the deal folks, I am going for a weight loss of 10 lbs or more, while my sister is trying to lose 5 lbs or more. Currently, the stakes are a measly $20 for the winner of the competition. To be the winner you must lose your weight. I guess we'll have a vote on the winner if we both meet our target.

If anyone else has a suggestion as to more parameters and winnings for the winner, by all means let us know.

------------
random things

i quit baker st. on tuesday. i went in and resigned. no two weeks notice. i had a shift on friday and sunday of this week. oh well. the gm called me on wed and talked about burning bridges and that i was being unprofessional. we left on a good note though, cause i told him how i fell on my face and he had a good laugh.

yesterday did 125 4 sets of 5 on bench. did leg press instead of squats for this week @ 225 same sets. then did the spin bike for 20 minutes. the spin bike dominates you. if you want a good sweat get on that thing and every like 3 minutes crank it a quarter turn. feel the burn my friends.

bingo tonight i think. holla
